EE might be famed for providing you with mobile data, calls and texts but now it wants to take over your TV as well. The company, which is owned by BT, has just announced the launch of some new ways to tune into live telly, boxsets and even premium content from Netflix which it hopes can convince homes to switch away from popular services like Freeview and Sky.

Those wanting to try something new can now take delivery of the EE TV Box Pro which offers instant access to live free content from services such as the BBC and ITV as well as premium telly. EE is even promising that users can easily subscribe and unsubscribe to things such as Sky Sports and Sky Cinema so there's no long-term commitment required or lengthy contracts to sign.

This set-top box includes a Sky Q-style hard disk inside allowing up to 600 hours of recordings to be made plus there's one-tap access to apps like Netflix and Prime Video.

A number of other features include full telly search, 7-day scroll back from the TV guide, Dolly Atmos support and compatibility with pin-sharp 4K content.

Those wanting multi-room TV access will also be able to add an EE TV Box Mini to their plan with this device also including access to live telly along with being able to pause content for up to 2 hours. Unlike Sky, which charges extra for its mini devices, EE says its TV Box Mini can be included in the price with no additional payments being made.

Of course, platforms such as Freeview are completely free to use and that's not the case with EE as you will need to pay. Prices for EE TV start from £18 per month with things increasing the more content you add.

For example, EE's Full Works bundle, which includes all Sky Sports channels along with Sky Cinema, Entertainment and TNT Sports will set you back £76 per month.

This offers a full TV guide along with easy access to live free-to-air and premium TV channels.

Speaking about the new servcies, Marc Allera, CEO of EE, said: “The launch of EE TV is one of the first significant strides we’re taking since launching New EE. The service is built for busy households, and we believe it will elevate the TV experience for consumers across the UK.

"Our new range of powerful set-top-boxes will give customers a slick and premium experience for watching the best entertainment, sport and movies via our flexible content packages, and we’re excited to be extending the EE TV experience with a UK first – so even more customers can access the great service via Apple TV 4K”.
