I'm A Celeb fans accused Fred Sirieix of thinking he was safe moments before he was given his marching orders tonight.
Fred had pushed some viewers over the edge with his cooking comments as they demanded the the First Dates star was sent on his way - and some got their wish as he became the third star to be evicted. But as he left camp this evening, some thought the Frenchman believed he wasn't going anywhere.
One wrote on twitter: "Fred hadn’t even packed his bag he was so certain of himself staying #ImaCeleb " as another posted: "Out of everyone in this series after leaving, Fred has to be the one whose fan base has lost the most people. Thoroughly unlikeable in every sense #ImACeleb "
Others warned Nigel Farage that he's next in the firing line. One put: "Fred would’ve been top 6 if he didn’t make sarky comments all the time. nigel, you’re next mate! #imaceleb " as someone else put: "I'm glad fred is out but can we PLEASE get farage out"
The maitre'd became the latest person to leave the camp following Nella Rose's controversial exit yesterday evening and Frankie Dettori's short stay in the jungle, when he was the first star to be evicted from the show. Two other stars had already left prior to this owing to medical grounds, with both Jamie Lynn Spears and Grace Dent being sent home.
The 51-year-old won many new fans for going head-to-head with Farage on Europe and immigration early in the series. But his outspoken style also upset some people in camp and viewers as more recently he was highly critical of Josie Gibson's cooking saying it was "like a horror movie" and also moaning about other people's washing up.
Speaking to Ant and Dec after leaving camp, Fred said: "My time in the jungle has been an amazing experience, I got to meet some wonderful people. It is like another life and here I am. I was living in the moment and not thinking about what was happening next. I found it quite easy because I really prepared myself."
After being told he was leaving by hosts Ant and Dec, Fred said: "See you guys, take care" and hugged his campmates.Fred ended his jungle experience on a high, taking on two bush tucker trials in Fly On The Wall with Marvin Humes and Celebrity Distressing Rooms trial on his own on Monday winning seven out of nine stars. But arguably his most memorable moments came in the opening week. On the second show and just hours into being in camp he told Farage how he felt.
Fred asked Nigel: “What’s the benefit of Brexit then? If you are an average person from Britain, what’s the benefit?” Nigel said: “To know that we’re independent, we stand on our own two feet in the world.” He then replied: “Brexit was about immigration, I remember your poster. I thought it was shameful what you did Nigel. Shameful," with Nigel adding: "Sadly, sadly it was absolutely true. It was a poster showing mass young men moving illegally across borders.”
